These are systems which are completely independent with zero reliance on the national electricity supply grid. Households generally consume the most energy during early evenings and morning, which is the time when the sun doesn't produce optimum energy enough to power solar panels and feed the home directly.
To offset this, these systems are designed to have high storage capacity in the form batteries which are specially designed for this usage. The batteries are charged during the day for use when the sun is not fully out.
